Line 61:
The first signs of her relationship with Ronald not working came way back when she first started college with him. Although she didn't go to college after her second semester, Ronald and Thatcher did. The two men rented a house together on campus and were seen bringing home dates each evening. Ronald could not stay committed to Ophera and cheated on her many times during his final two semesters in college. This led to Thatcher not speaking to Ronald during the entire duration of those semesters, as he was best friends with Ophera. Despite his anger at Ronald, Thatcher never told Ophera what went on during those two semesters, not even when they married 16 years later.

After they married, Ronald had a few one night stands with multiple women. Ophera heard rumors, but believed her husband when he said nothing was going on. However, Ronald had since began a passionate affair with Lonnie Pertridge, even going as far as to say he was going to divorce Ophera to marry her. Ophera caught them in their affair one day on accident when she came home from work. She angrily consulted a divorce lawyer about her options, but ultimetly decided to try to salvage her relationship with Ronald. She turned to Thatcher for comfort, and their relationship grew stronger. By now Thatcher had already been married to and divorced from Jessica Maylenderton, and had just married Ella Carlisle. While Ophera and Jessica didn't get along, she and Ella did and became friends. Ophera liked having another woman to talk to about these things, but enjoyed having a friend in Thatcher as well.

Her friendship with Ella came crashing down less than a year after Ella and Thatcher married. Ophera saw Thatcher and Ronald fighting outside Thatcher's house (Ronald and Thatcher were neighbors at this time), and demanded to know what was going on. Thatcher had just caught Ronald and Ella in bed together and was  Thatcher was violently ending his longstanding friendship with Ronald because of it. Although it was the second time Ronald had publicly cheated on her, Ophera stayed married to him despite having no real ties to him (they had no children and she had her own money).

Ophera and Ronald relationship initially looked bright as he promised to never cheat on her again. He remained fully monogamous for over a year, but then went back to his old ways. He had a one night stand with the maid, Lucy, which Ophera found out about. Having had enough, Ophera finally filed for divorce, which was granted after less than four months. Having no place to go, she moved in with Thatcher, who agreed to sell his famous mock-tudor house so they wouldn't have to live directly in front of Ronald anymore. Immediately after the divorce, Ronald married Lucy and had two children with her.
