The Terran Federal Government was an all-powerful regime that succeeded in overthrowing the government of SimNation then achieved world domination several decades before the foundation of Oasis Landing. Its decline began with the Revolution, which eventually culminated in the Battle of SimCity. The result of this historic conflict was the fall of The Government and the eventual surrender of the Government's forces to the Revolutionary troops.
As a result of the Revolution, much of the world had been rendered uninhabitable due to the massive amount of destruction and the use of nuclear weaponry. To provide a safe haven for surviving Sims, the city of Oasis Landing was founded in one of the few remaining pockets of liveable land.
