Fireplace

Fireplaces are Build Mode objects found in The Sims, The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. In The Sims and The Sims 2, they raise the Room/Environment score. In The Sims 3, they give the cozy fire moodlet. However, they can cause fires if flammable objects - or Sims - are too close to them.

Fireplaces need to be placed along walls, and some fireplaces have mantels, which can hold small objects. Putting anything in front of them, or leaving them lit for extended periods of time, may increase the risk of starting a fire.^{[confirmation needed]}

In The Sims 3, cheap fireplaces can be upgraded to become fireproof or change their fire color, while the expensive types are fully upgraded.
