Hello everybody. I've been playing the sims 2 for quite a while and I thought last month "I think I will go and play the sims 3 today!" But I lost the disc and I tried to uninstall Island Paradise, which failed. Half of the game is gone I can't boot it up anymore after I found the disc last week. But my computer still thinks it's installed. So I threw the file in the bin (Not a real bin the computer bin!) without the uninstall thing coming up. I put the disc back in the hard drive and it does not come up with the install thing. So I gave up. I left it alone for another week. Put the disc back in and got this friendly message:

How do I bypass the launcher? or get rid of this problem. It comes up just as soon at the thing comes up so I can't press play. I really want to play but right now the sims 3 is unplayable.

If you want to bypass the launcher, go to your installed game's directory folder C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin, and look for TS3W.exe. Run that program to play the game without going to the launcher.
I don't believe this problem can be solved by just bypassing the launcher. The problem is more than that. For starters, you really shouldn't delete installation files to Recycle Bin. Firstly, go check your Recycle Bin, and if all the files are still there, restore them. Don't let any files missing. Secondly, please elaborate how the the uninstallation of Island Paradise failed. What happened, and what did the system say when you uninstalled it? Also, what did you mean by "half of the game is lost" if the uninstallation failed? Are the files really missing? When I lost the disc. I tried to uninstall Island Paradise to get University Life's disc to work. It was so close to uninstalling. Then something came up asking for the disc. Which I didn't have. So it said the uninstall couldn't be finished. My disc cleanup program deleted all the files in the bin which mean the file is long gone by now. I'll try the bypassing the launching thing right now. StartUp Page for talk 08:43, April 12, 2014 (UTC)

Just tried it. Still wouldn't let me start the game up. So the problem is with the game itself. StartUp Page for talk 09:01, April 12, 2014 (UTC)

I suggest you uninstall and reinstall everything then, as it seems that there's no other ways to restore them again. I'm worried if all the important files are missing as well. Back up your saved game first before you uninstall the game. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program, and see if you still have The Sims 3 and its expansions in the programs list.
