Carrying on the new wiki theme discussions, I think it's about time to tackle the elephant in the room—Infoboxes.

We have several infoboxes on The Sims Wiki, of varying styles. Most of the "common" infoboxes, like {{Sim}}, {{Game}} and {{Object}}, use what I would call the "standard theme," whereas other less-used infoboxes, like {{Venue}}, {{Chapter}}, or {{Apartment}}, use the "old style." I think our goal should be to update all the infoboxes onto a new standard design.

I've tried my hand at creating such a design, and I'd like to show off what I've got so far. I took {{Game}} as a starting point, since it is a relatively straightforward template and is used widely. You can see the code for my redesign at {{Game/test}}. Otherwise, I have examples of the old and new designs displayed on this test page. Aside from the fact that the colors used might need to be tweaked a little bit, I think it's a good foundation to build upon. I don't feel confident enough to attempt an infobox redesign all by myself, especially with the more complex infoboxes, like the Sim/Simbio series of infoboxes.

What does everyone think of that design? How can we improve it? - LostInRiverview talkblogcontribs 16:47, May 1, 2015 (UTC)
