I have TS3, TS3 Pets expansion packl and TS3 High end Loft Stuff;

I saved and quit my game last night, and now when I get back on, my sim cannot progress any further in her actions. She was asking one of her pugs to "Bring in Newspaper", but she just stands there and nothing happens (I did notice a chair with an X over it in a bubble over her head, but I deleted the item that was in the way and it did not make a difference). Even if I cancel the action, she still will remain in the same place, attempting to get the dog to bring in the newspaper. However, her energy/bladder/hunger/etc will still continue to go down.

Try the cheat resetsim firstname lastname - it works well for me. ―ฬђ ^talk 21:54, January 26, 2012 (UTC)
