Forums: IndexCommunity discussionsRe-proposing a rumored games policy | Post

Prior to the move from having discussions on the Community Portal Talk Page to having discussions in the forums, I had proposed a policy regarding rumored games. I even created a draft policy (visible at The Sims Wiki:Rumored games). Ultimately, three users voiced any opinion at all to the policy; although the opinions were positive, three out of the multiple users we have here is hardly consensus. So I am again asking for some sort of feedback and, hopefully, approval of a policy governing Rumored Games, because right now none exists.

Please give as much or as little feedback below as you want. -- LiR speak ~ read 23:25, December 26, 2012 (UTC)

Discussion[edit source]

In my opinion, this looks fairly decent, but I'd like to add another thing, regarding the subject of confirmation: Nowadays, EA often announces their games via their pages on social networks (e.g. Facebook), so I also think that should be a criteria (like when they announced Outdoor Living Stuff and Hidden Springs). I agree with DanPin, though as long as the source who announced them is official, i.e. EA itself. I'm sure we need a guideline / policy for this, though I don't have anything to consider to improve the policy yet. Maybe we could point out in the policy that we disallow any creation of rumor pages until it has been fully confirmed, just in case. Nikel Talk Vote! 15:49, December 28, 2012 (UTC)

Alright, I've added some points regarding confirmation through EA-run social media sites (like the FB page, Twitter, et al), as well as a clarifying point in the introduction that TSW doesn't create pages until games are confirmed. -- LiR speak ~ read 16:09, December 28, 2012 (UTC)

I'm in full support of this per my comments in the previous discussion. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 21:48, December 28, 2012 (UTC)

Update[edit source]

It occurs to me that it might be more effective to pair this policy with a policy regarding games that are confirmed but not yet released, especially as it relates to hitherto unknown circumstances, like unnamed expansion packs. I'll draft up that policy proposal and package the whole thing together as a Game Information Policy or something like that. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 07:12, January 10, 2013 (UTC)

This has been in my mind as well. I'm not sure if EA simply said something, an article is to be created here. :/ Nikel Talk Vote! 15:40, January 10, 2013 (UTC)

Archived - I've started a new discussion about a proposed comprehensive policy that would include what was proposed here, so that renders this discussion pretty well unnecessary. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 09:13, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
