I've been researching around the timelines/chronologies of each of the neighbourhoods/towns/cities in the whole of the Sims franchise to find some kind of order. (I know it sounds really OCD, but I need to figure out the Landgraab family tree).

Anyway- the bold-underline are the definite order, and those around it are my best guess. I would love to see what other people suggest

THE CHRONOLOGY OF THE DIFFERENT TOWNS/CITIES WITHIN THE SIMS FRANCHISE

This chronology follows the Goth family as a baseline as they appear in most/all games, with a 3 generation model. Therefore, Sunset Valley(TS3)= Bella and Mortimer are children. Neighbourhood 1= Cassandra is a child. Pleasantview= Alexander is a child. Any cities/towns that don’t contain Goths, are either deduced via age relation, or by things assumed or said within the Canon. Further research suggests that all of the TS1 neighbourhoods and sub-hoods occur at the same time and all of the TS2 hoods and sub-hoods occur at the same time.- except maybe Belladonna Cove potentially being in the future due to the Bella statue.- also Bluewater Village is questionable due to the ladgraab family tree.

Kingdom from TSM- Assumed due to Medieval Period

Tredony and Aarbyville (TSM:P&N)- Assumed, also contains the Characters Demetrius and Dacien Landegraab.

Alphaville (TSO)- The Alphaville alpacas are referenced in TS3 and thus exists at the same time as Sunset Valley, however the events of the game could be placed anywhere in the timeline

Twinbrook- Bunny & Notzo Curious are child & toddler respectively. Assuming Strangetown is the same time as Pleasantview (and Bella Goth in strangetown is classed as an Elder (eventhough she is an Adult)) Then Glabe and Kitty Curious would be children in SV era, Thus Twinbrook is a generation older than SV.

MySims world (named by player)- Vincent Skullfinder (assumed Elder in MySims) is dead(old age) and buried in pleasant rest graveyard in Sunset Valley. However, his death occurs prior to TS3, so it is unknown how long before this happened. Furthermore, Elmira Clamp mentions her aunt crumplebottom -If Vincent dies just before TS3, then Elmira Clamp would be approximately the same age as Agnes Crumplebottom, and thus Aunt Crumplebottom could be Prudence Crumplebottom.

Sunset Valley(TS3)

Riverview(TS3 Store)- Judging by the ages of the Broke, Simovitch and Newbie family, in relation to the Goth family, Riverview occurs just after. Bob Newbie is a teen in RV, and an Adult in TS1 the same time as Bella and Mortimer, and thus an elder/dead in Pleasantview. As Bob and Betty’s Daughter, Brandi, is an adult with a teenage son in PV, then (in theory) Brandi should be a child in TS1 but isn’t (unless taken by the social worker, or the tutorial occurs before the events in TS1) - Can assume that the book ‘Murder in Pleasantview’ by Alexander Goth was brought to the past by Don Lothario in Riverview.

Bridgeport (TS3 LN)- "This place is hotter than Hank Goddard that one time he caught on fire!" when visiting a random hotspot. It is also possible they will exclaim "This place is as hot as Connor Frio with a bad case of hypothermia".   Suggesting it takes place a little after

Simsville- the Cancelled Video game. This is only speculation, however a promo shot of the cover shows Mortimer and Bella sans Cassandra, suggesting it was set prior to TS1

Neighbourhood 1(TS1)

Moonlight Bay(TS3 Console)- Approx same era as Neighbourhood 1. Mentions Malcolm Landgraab leaving Sunset Valley, and thus suggesting it is the Malcolm who is a child at the start of TS3- however, it could also easily be a descendent.  SV Malcolm was a child at the same time as Bella and Mortimer Goth, and has a wife and child in MB, similar to the Goth transition between TS3->TS1.

Monte Vista (TS3 Store)- Isabella and Patrizio Monty are adults and Bianca is a child. This would put events at a similar time as TS1 if Veronaville occurs at the same time as Pleasantview.

Aurora Skies- around the same time as TS1. Gundrun and Bjorn Beaker are adults and Loki and Erin Beaker are children. Following the idea that Loki and Erin are the same age as Cassandra Goth in TS2.

Simvalley (TS Console)- occurs just after TS1

SimValley (TS Bustin Out)- occurs after the TS console game

Isla Paradisio (TS3 IP)- Edward Dregg is a Ghost and appears in TS2 bon voyage as a pirate captain on twikki island. His TS3 bio says he always dreamed of visiting Twikki putting Isla Paradisio before TS2- following the notion that all of the hoods in TS2 occur at the same time.

Lucky Palms (TS3 Store)- Darleen and Darren Dreamer are young adults, pre marriage and pre Dirk. In TS1 they would be teens (like Daniel Pleasant if the teen life stage existed).

Sunlit Tides (TS3 Store)- Mary-sue and Daniel Pleasant are newly weds

Moonlight Falls (TS3 SN)- Oberon and Titania Summerdream are both townies and assumed unmarried without their children.  Frida Goth is an elder ghost, which places the town after Sunset Valley but could occur at anytime after that.

Dragon Valley (TS3 Store)- Jennifer and John Burb are engaged.

Pleasantview, Strangetown & Veronaville (TS2)- If Goth’s are used as a base line, then Bella Goth’s appearance in Strangetown can be assumed that they occur at the same time. The TS2 console suggests these 3 occur at the same time.

Strangetown (TS2 DS)- assumed to occur at the sametime as TS2 because Johnny Smith and Tank Grunt are both teens.

Pleasantview, Strangetown and Melbourne (TS2 Console)- The Caliente Sisters and Don Lothario appear relatively unchanged, and Bella Goth is living in Strangetown hiding from aliens. Isabella and Patrizio Monty are Elders in Melbourne as they are in Veronaville (TS2)

Barnacle Bay (TS3 Store)- The Caliente Sisters reappear, having moved from Pleasantview. The world info says : Can Dina break hearts in Barnacle Bay like she did in Pleasantview? She wants to find out." Neither are married nor have children, making anything that happens via players in TS2 moot.

Whiskerton (TS2 Pets Console)- Assuming this is a different Bob and Betty Newbie as they are both black (whereas in TS1, TS2 and other games they are white) so we can only assume that this is the same Bob and Betty Newbie as from the TS2 console game.

Littlehaven (SS)- Bella Goth lives here, and it has been confirmed by developers that it is post abduction and Strangetown.

Beacon Bay(TS3 DS)- Alexander Goth is an adult

Lunar Lakes (TS3 Store)- Bella Goth is a Ghost who has died of old age. It is difficult to say just how long after TS2 this occurs.

NO relation at all (as far as I am aware)

-Hidden Springs

-Appaloosa Plains

-Starlight Shores

UNABLE TO PLACE:

Sugar Maple Coast (TS3:P Console)- Rebecca Goth was drawn to Sugar Maple Coast due to the stories of her family there. This suggests that she could be a distant relative of the late Timaeus Goth.

Vista Beach (TS3 Wii)- contains the Sims Trish and Wulf Goth, as well as the Newbie family, however it is unknown their exact relationship with the Pleasantview Goth's and Newbies.

TS3 University- The skill books from University Life, which are Social Networking Vol. 2, Social Networking Vol. 3, Street ArtVol. 2, and Street Art Vol. 3 are written by Don LotharioVirginia BuckinghamCassidy Roth, and Emma Contrary, respectively. They're all premade deceased Sims from The Sims 2 expansion packs, excluding Don.- Though we we can assume Don wrote Social Networking Vol. 2 during his time in Riverview.  In my opinion the position of this is dependent on the the position of bluewater village, and thus the Landgraab family tree- this is because Riverblossom Hills and Desiderata Valley respectively have very little connection to the 3 starterhoods and are thus difficult to place.

EXTRA INFO NEEDED:

-In The Sims Medieval: Pirates and Nobles- are the Landegraabs (Demetrius and Dacien) actually seen or just mentioned. And if so, is it possible one is an Admiral?

--Port Abrel (TS3:P 3DS)- does anyone have the game and know if any familiar names appear?

-Barkersville (TS2:P GBA)-does anyone have the game and know if any familiar names appear?

SPECULATIONS:

-Chris Roomies (Jones in TS1 Console) is the sister of Edward Jones (part of the Downloadable Jones family from the original TS1 site)

-Chris and Edward Jones are the Children of Aiden and Hannah Jones from Riverview.

-Robert Kim from TS2 Pets is the child of either Sun Young Kim or Ho Sung Kim of the Kim family in Shang Simla.

- The Goth Boy from MySims could actually be a Goth, potentially the 'Boy' ghost in the Goth's cemetary in TS1.

-Professor Nova of MySims could be related to Castor Nova from TS2 University.

- Are Surnames like Smith and Jones actually 'common' in the Sims universe, or is everyone with that name related?

I'm pretty sure the ghosts in the TS1 Goth cemetery are just generic ghosts to make the house more spooky, not actually suppose to be relatives. The minigame when you install TS2 actually calls them "friends" as in "how many friends do the Goth family have buried in the backyard" but it never specifies whose friends are they, right? So when they were making the goth cemetery in TS1 they were not thinking about who should be in the cemetery and how they were related to them (this is because there were no family tree in TS1. At the time, all adults living in an house together were considered possible romantic interest to each other, and all kids living in an house together, were considered siblings. And everyone of these families had a descriptive name so you could not tell sometimes if they were a family or an household. You could play Cassandra to not be the related to Mortimer\Bella at all. You could play her as Bella's little sister if you wanted to!). So these generically named ghosts are just that, just ghosts to be spooky. So no one of them is the ghost of MySims Goth Boy. That "boy" ghost is just a generic ghost of a little boy that looks like Alexander. Come TS2 and the generic ghosts are not there anymore and replaced\retconned by actual relatives.

Plus, we do not know if Nova is the professor's surname\maiden name, she could have married into the Nova family, use a stage name, her mom could have married into the family, or it could even have been the first name. (I'm pretty sure both Doctor F and Prof Nova could\are be older than Vincent. This means they could be dead of old age as of TS3.)

And i guess if these surnames are common in real life, they're common in The Sims too. It often uses names that are either generico-american, or some sort of Asian-sounding-ish. Or the generic surnames for the classic families:  The TS1 Roomies were actually Chris Jones and Melissa Smith, and the TS2 Singles were Chloe Curious, Lola Curious, Kristen Loste, and Erin Beaker. But they used the household's name as their surname. Imagine if in Sunset Valley, we had an household with: Stiles Roomies, Tamara Roomies, Emma Roomies, Cycl0n3sw0rd Roomies and Blair Roomies. To get the surnames of the first three (Cycl0n3 is using an hacking name in real life, and Blair has her parents in another household with her dad being a friend of Gunther) we would need TS3 to have family trees like TS2's. Or to have Stiles, Tamara, and Emma show up in another game\spinoff as Stiles McGraw, Tamara Donner, and Emma Hatch. I'm sure that the only families in SimLand that do not share their name with other families, are the Landgraabs, and the Goths. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 18:06, May 26, 2014 (UTC)
