Forums: IndexCommunity discussionsWhat are the accepted categories for "Playability" in a Sim's Article? | Post

I have been working on updating/fleshing out articles for Sims 3 characters and I've been running into some questions that may be best answered by the community. The question I have now is what are the correct categories for the Playabaility entry in a Sim's write-up? I have seen "Playable", "Townie", "NPC", "Deceased", "Family Bin", "Unborn baby" and "Foreign Townie".

Is there a place which lists the option to choose from? The only list I can find is in the template for "Sim" which indicates the following: Playable, Family bin or Lots and Houses bin, NPC, Deceased, Townie, Promotional, Downloadable.

My immediate concern is in regards to Foreign Residents. Foreign Residents are those sims who live in foreign worlds (Egypt, China, France, Sims University, Future Town (whatever it's called)) They are not townies although you cannot switch to them because they have residences. Following that, what are roper foreign townies and NPCs  called, if they are called anything different than townie or NPC (I don't think they should be different, just call 'em Townie or NPC).

Any help would be appreciated.

Apologies for this late reply. The current classifications for Sim's playability is as following:

  1. Playable
  2. Deceased
  3. Promotional
  4. Downloadable
  5. Townie
  6. Downtownie
  7. Foreign Townie
  8. Tourist
  9. NPC
  10. Family Bin
  11. Unplayable

I can understand what you mean. I'm a little irritated by this too, since those foreign Sims are not technically townie, I know this. I'd suggest to call them "Foreign Sims" or "Foreign residents" or anything more relevant, instead of "Foreign townies".

"Foreign townies", however, is more properly applied to local Sims; those who are from The Sims 2: Bon Voyage. What do you think about that suggestion? Nikel Talk Vote! 08:14, September 16, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry for my late reply to your late reply... I quite like "Foreign Resident" as it is clearer than "Foreign Sim" and would allow for existing "Foreign Townie"s to go unchanged. I am, as I said, new to wikia editing. Is there any body that would have to approve a decision to add an item to the Sims playability list? Or do I just go ahead and start making changes? Absimiliard (talk) 02:33, September 19, 2013 (UTC)Absimiliard
Normally a change like this doesn't always need the community approval, because we already stated the reason why it needs a change. If someone disapproves, then that's when it needs to be further discussed. I'll add the playability list for foreign residents. Nikel Talk Vote! 03:22, September 19, 2013 (UTC)
