Home video games are objects in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. They give fun to the Sims who use them, unless they have the Technophobe trait.[TS3] The SimLife Goggles can be used for many other things, combined with cheats and/or mods. It's also the most expensive video game, and refers to "virtual reality".

One of the Electronics items in The Sims was the "SSRI Virtual Reality Set", a pair of VR goggles that Sims could wear for fun.

In The Sims 2, there is a basic video game console which can be placed next to a TV, and which allows one or two Sims to play. As with computers, it comes pre-loaded with SSX 3, and additional games can be bought on community lots. Any game which is bought will be available on any computer or game consoleon the lot. In the base game, The Sims Bustin' Out and SimCity 4 are available. FreeTime adds MySims and FIFA 08, and Rod Humble will deliver a package which contains a computer with a video of The Sims 3.
