Game guide:Aspirations 101

This game guide is for The Sims 4 only.

The Sims 4 introduced a replacement to Lifetime Wishes from The Sims 3, called Aspirations. They share some common elements, but unlike Lifetime Wishes, they focus on sub-aspirations and can be switched at anytime. Unlike The Sims 2's Aspirations, they don't influence your Sim's wants and fears, but instead rarely can give Whims related to the current aspiration selected.

Create-A-Sim

When creating your Sim, the Main Aspiration you will take will allow you to get a special Bonus Trait that will help you along with the Aspiration. For example, if you take "Successful Lineage", which is a Family Aspiration, you will get the "Domestic" bonus trait, which will allow you to raise Friendly relationships with your family members faster. You can always switch Aspirations when you are in the Live Mode, but you will be unable to change the Bonus Trait, so make sure that you took one that suits you. Below is a list of all the Bonus Traits that can be recieved.

Comparisions

Some Aspirations can take a long time to accomplish, and some can be not worth bee-lining or focusing on, but instead are better when multi-tasked along with others. Below is a chart of all the Aspirations, the amount of Satisfaction Points the award, what they focus on and their difficulty.

This Aspiration focuses on the Fitness Skill, and the Sim's body quality. The upcoming career in the December patch, Athlete, might be the optimal career for it. The best Traits to take if you plan on maxing it are: Active, Bro. The Traits to avoid are: Lazy, Clumsy. Overall, you will gain 5,050 Satisfaction Points from completing the 4 milestones.

This Aspiration focuses on the Painting Skill. The optimal Career for this Aspiration is Painter, but it's not required to join it. The best Traits to take if you plan on maxing it are: Creative, Art Lover, Perfectionist, Gloomy(useful if your Sim is Sad a lot). There are no particular Traits to avoid for this Aspiration. Overall, you will gain 5,000 Satisfaction Points from completing the 4 milestones.

The Reward Trait for this Aspiration, Expressionistic, will allow you to paint Emotional Paintings, write Emotional Books and carve Emotional Wood Sculptures no matter your current Emotion.

This Aspiration focuses on the Writing Skill, Publishing Books and Earning Royalties from those. The optimal Career for this Aspiration is Writer, but it's not required to join it. The best Traits to take if you plan on maxing it are: Creative, Perfectionist. There are no particular Traits to avoid for this Aspiration. Overall, you will gain 4,925 Satisfaction Points from completing the 4 milestones.

Bestselling Author	Achieve Level 10 Writing Skill Write 3 Masterpieces Have Earned §25.000 in Royalties Publishing Books	4	Medium Hard Hard	1000 SP 750 SP 1000 SP	Make sure to Publish a lot of books to earn a lot of royalties. Masterpieces are really hard to get, so make sure to have high needs and Very Inspired emotion before attempting to write one. The Poetic Reward Trait allows you to write the Book of Life, which can revive the Sim bound to it when he/she dies.

Musical Genius

This Aspiration focuses on Instrument Skills, song writing and various interactions relating those. The optimal Career for this Aspiration is Entertainer (Musician Branch), but it's not required to join it. The best Traits to take if you plan on maxing it are: Creative, Self-Assured. The Traits to avoid are: Hot-Headed. Overall, you will gain 4,975 Satisfaction Points from completing the 4 milestones.

The Piper Reward Trait allows you to play songs that make Sims do various interactions, similar to "Influence to..." in The Sims 2.

This Aspiration focuses on being a mean, hated Sim, and doing various Evil interactions. The optimal Career for this Aspiration is Criminal, and you will have to reach Level 8 to complete all the Requirements. The best Traits to take if you plan on maxing it are: Mean, Evil, Hates Children, Hot-Headed. The Traits to avoid are: Good, Outgoing. Overall, you will gain 4,275 Satisfaction Points from completing the 4 milestones.

Chief of Mischief	Clog Drains at 5 Different Homes Hack Successfully 10 Times Achieve Level 10 Mischief	4	Hard Medium-Hard Hard		You will need to travel to a lot to get to 5 different houses, and improve your Programming Skill to hack successfully. The Reward Trait for this Aspiration, Tormentor, unlocks the ability to sabotage nearly every object in the game, including objects other Sims crafted. New pranks are also unlocked.

The best Traits to take if you plan on maxing it are: Childish, Family-Oriented. The Traits to avoid are: Hates Children, Mean, Evil. Try to max out simple skills to complete the mission faster. Failing to get an A for one Child in High School can seriously clog you until you get a 2nd child ready to do it.
Successful Lineage	Mentor Child 10 Times Have a Child Complete an Aspiration Have a Child or Grandchild Reach the Top of a Career	4	Medium-Hard Varies Very Hard		This one might be one of the longest Aspiration Milestones to complete. Since you will need your Child to reach the Top of a Career, make sure he starts as soon as he hits the Young Adult age, and doesn't stop beelining it. Make sure to take an easy Aspiration for the Child as well. The Reward Trait for this Aspiration, Vicarious, allows you to gain skill as your children gain skills.

Big Happy Family

This Aspiration focuses on having a large family with a lot of successors. There is no optimal career for this Aspiration. The best Traits to take if you plan on maxing it are: Childish, Family-Oriented. The Traits to avoid are: Hates Children, Mean, Evil. Overall, you will gain 5,225 Satisfaction Points from completing the 4 milestones.

Big Happy Family	Have a Child get Married Have 4 Grandchildren Become Good Friends with 4 Children or Grandchildren	4	Medium-Hard Very Hard Hard		This one is more of a Lineage/Dynasty challenge. Make sure one of your Childs, or maybe two, marry and have kids. Maintain high relationships with yourChildren or Grandchildren and you'll pass through it. The Reward Trait for this Aspiration, Patriarch, gives you a special aura that increases your children's skill gain whenever they are in it.

This Aspiration focuses on Cooking and Gourmet Cooking Skills. The optimal Career for this Aspiration is Culinary, and you are required to reach Level 5 in it. The best Traits to take if you plan on maxing it are: Creative, Perfectionist. The Traits to avoid are: Clumsy. Overall, you will gain 4,675 Satisfaction Points from completing the 4 milestones.

Culinary Artist	Become an Adult Reach Level 5 in Culinary Career Create 8 Types of Excellent Food	3	Very Easy Medium Medium	0 SP 500 SP 500 SP	Make sure to vary the food you create in order to make different types of Excellent Meals.
Master Chef	Cook 20 Excellent Large Meals Achieve Level 5 Gourmet Cooking Cook 5 Gourmet Dishes at a Single Event	4	Medium Medium Medium-Hard	1000 SP 750 SP 1000 SP	Try to cook foods that are quick to prepare like Caprese Salad to have enough time to cook the 5 Gourmet Dishes, since you only have 6 hours. The Reward Trait for this Aspiration, Fresh Chef, will allow the food the Sim cooks to be of the highest quality and never spoil.

Master Mixologist

This Aspiration focuses on the Mixology Skill and Drink Mixing. The optimal Career for this Aspiration is Culinary, and you are required to join the Mixology Track. The best Traits to take if you plan on maxing it are: Creative, Perfectionist. The Traits to avoid are: Clumsy. Overall, you will gain 4,525 Satisfaction Points from completing the 4 milestones.

Beverage Boss	Become an Adult Join the Mixology Track of the Culinary Career Achieve Level 7 in Mixology Skill	3	Very Easy Medium-Hard Medium		This one has nothing hard in it, just continue Tending Bars at Venues to raise your Mixology Level, or read books about the skill if you don't have money to waste on drinks.
Master Mixologist	Achieve Level 10 Mixology Skill Mix 10 Excellent Drinks while Inspired Create 10 Types of Excellent Drink	4	Medium-Hard Medium-Hard Medium-Hard		The 2 last requirements can be multi-tasked and accomplished at the same time, as long as you have access to 10 various drinks. The Reward Trait for this Aspiration, Potion Master, allows your Sim to mix Emotion Potions.

Fortune

Fabulously Wealthy

This Aspiration focuses on collecting large amounts of money and having a great career. There is no optimal Career for this Aspiration. The best Traits to take if you plan on maxing it are: Materialistic, Snob. There are no particular Traits to avoid. Overall, you will gain 4,675 Satisfaction Points from completing the 4 milestones.

Learning Earning	Become an Adult Reach Level 5 of Any Career Have §25.000 in Reserve	2	Very Easy Varies Medium		Beelining a career will allow you to make money more easily, since higher levels have a higher paycheck.
Well-Off	Have Earned §75.000 Reach Level 8 of any Career	3	Hard Varies		This one can take some time to achieve, since some ways to make money, like selling items through Build Mode, will not award you progress. Self-Employed Sims, like Gardeners/Anglers should sell their items through the inventory, at all times.
Fabulously Wealthy	Have Earned §200.000 Have §100.000 in Reserve	4	Insane Very Hard		This one will take a really long time to achieve, since getting §200.000 of profits is really long for a single Sim. Make sure to max out your Career Track, have a way to make money aside. You might also need to be a little scrooge to keep a §100.000 in your current funds. The Reward Trait for this Aspiration, Shrewd, will give you 5% of your current household funds as interest added at the end of each week.

Mansion Baron

This Aspiration focuses on building one of the greatest and expensive houses. There is no optimal Career for this Aspiration. The best Traits to take if you plan on maxing it are: Materialistic, Snob. There are no particular Traits to avoid. Overall, you will gain 4,500 Satisfaction Points from completing the 4 milestones.

The Great Landscaper	Have a Home Worth §100.000 Purchase §5.000 Worth of Landscaping	2	Hard Easy-Medium		Landscaping includes Trees, Rocks and Bushes. Having a large lot might help to place all the objects you possibly want to place, or to build a larger home.
Home Renovator	Have a Home Worth §200.000 Own 30 Windows	3	Very Hard Easy-Medium		This one is pretty grindy, since having a Home worth §200.00 can take some time. Move out to a larger Lot to gain more place to place expensive items, or to build a masterpiece house. Try to buy expensive windows to kill two birds with one stone.
Mansion Baron	Have a Home Worth §350.000 Purchase 20 Columns	4	Very Hard Easy-Medium		This one will require from you to make a lot of money, so having a large household that constantly makes money will help. Place Columns on your walls to save space. The Reward Trait for this Aspiration, Thrifty, will give you a 10% rebate on every Build Mode purchase which is added to your household funds at the end of the week.

Knowledge

Renaissance Sim

This Aspiration focuses on being a Jack-of-all-trades and having tried multiple career tracks. There is no optimal Career for this Aspiration, but you will need to join 3 differnt ones and reach Level 3 in those.
