Have a family member or close friend use a [[Genie#The Sims 2|genie]] lamp to resurrect a dead Sim. The Matchmaker will randomly give the genie lamp as a gift, though she seems to do it more frequently to those who call her often.
When you obtain it, simply "Dust Lamp", then "Wish" > "Resurrect (Sim)".
The Sims 3 Showtime
If you have Sims 3 Showtime, you can obtain a genie lamp and then "Dust Lamp", then "Wish" > "Resurrect (Sim)". The Sim will come back alive but will still float instead of walk and other Sims will recognize the resurrected Sim as a ghost.
