Disclaimer:

If you are a parent of an underage teen player of The Sims 3, you should be aware that the player community has developed many modifications to the game that are easy to find by anyone who can use Google to search the Web. Most of these modifications fit the "T for Teen" rating of the game, but some mods are more R- or M-rated. (Nothing X-rated is possible with The Sims 3.) The main intent of this article is to equip responsible parents with the knowledge and techniques to ascertain whether your children might be using any game mods that you might object to. Remember, the developers and publishers of the game, and the player community at large, are not responsible for protecting your children from material that you might prefer they not be exposed to. Only parental oversight on your part can ensure that your kids are playing game content that you approve of.

Mosaic-Blur Removal is the general term for covering mods which remove the censoring blur in Sims games.

This section is in need of additional information. You can help The Sims Wiki by expanding this section.

The Sims 2

At first you could only get rid of it by using SimPE and changing the BCON and BHAV files (which is a messy business), but later on a mod was released in .package format.

The Sims 3

There have been early attempts at removing the mosaic blur effect when showering or using the toilet, but it involved a hack, which is a complete destructive replacement of some core game files for The Sims 3. Now a mod has been developed that non-destructively removes the mosaic blur effect.

Note that by default, a naked Sim has a 'barbie-doll' skin so there is nothing naughty or provocative to see if you apply the .package mod to remove the mosaic blur. Also, when sitting on the toilet a Sim does not remove its underwear. So if you find the default mosaic blur annoying or even painful (some people are actually given headaches by the effect), you don't have to worry about being considered lecherous. Unless of course you also apply mods that create more realistic skins and mods that provide "nude" or "sheer" clothing, but even then it's a personal and cultural choice whether such mods are lewd or merely natural and realistic.

Due to the nature of the mod it will have to be updated for each new expansion and stuff pack if new effects are added.[1]
