Giving Gifts was possible in [[The Sims]], but it worked differently. The reciever would either accept the gift for a positive boost, or smash it, which results in a big negative drop and the giving sim losing that item for nothing.

Giving Gifts is a feature from Seasons. In order to give a gift a Sim must have something in their inventory, such as a souvenir or cell phone. The Sim that is receiving the gift may reject it and counts as a negative in the relationship. Most of the time a Sim will accept the gift and gain a positive in the relationship. Sims are more likely to want to give a gift during Winter.
