A Murphy bed is a type of bed added in The Sims 2: Apartment Life. It can be opened and closed into the wall, ostensibly saving space. However, when closed, the tiles it would use if opened are still considered to be in use, though Sims are able to walk through that space. If a Sim with fewer than five body points and a mood of less than -70 opens the bed, there is a 5% chance that the bed will fall on them and crush them to death. The ghost of a Sim who dies from being crushed by a Murphy bed is white, and will avoid the bed.
