Strangely, it is possible to be killed by the Murphy “hide-away” bed. This is when the bed falls on your Sim while they are opening/closing this bed, resulting in getting crushed to death. |

If a Sim with fewer than five body points and a mood of less than -70 opens the bed, there is a 5% chance that the bed will fall on them and crush them to death. The ghost of a Sim who dies from being crushed by a Murphy bed is white, and will avoid the bed. |

If your Sim is unfortunate enough to attempt to open/close the Murphy bed after acquiring the said status, and if that Sim is also unlucky enough to be in then 5%, then the bed will crash down upon your poor Sim, crushing them in the process. Ghosts of this death type will appear white, and will tend to avoid any Murphy beds while haunting the lot. |

The Murphy "hide away" bed is a type of bed introduced in The Sims 2: Apartment Life expansion pack. The bed folds into wall as to save space in the small apartments that are added with the game. However, when closed, the tiles it would use if opened are still considered to be in use. While Sims are able to walk through that space, objects cannot be placed in that space without using the moveobjects cheat. When the cheat is used to place an item in that space, it will probably show through the bed unless the item is small enough to go unnoticed.
Murphy beds are scheduled to return in The Sims 3: University Life.
