About Patreon[edit | edit source]

Patreon is a common method of soliciting donations so that content creators get paid for their time. Patreon does not only host The Sims custom content, but Patreon is also used by graphics artists, writers, YouTubers and/or Sims influencers, musicians, and even nonprofits. Patreon consolidates subscriptions for its users so that they can make one monthly subscription payment rather than visiting various other subscription sites and getting several smaller bills. Patreon members can also cancel any of their subscriptions at any time.

Tiers[edit | edit source]

Typically content creators will set tier levels of subscriptions for their content, which they can name as they want. These tiers pay different subscription fees and obtain several benefits. The free tier, also known as the public tier, allows players to "follow" creators that they like and review postings and updates that were made public. The next step above that can range from $1 to $5 per month (US dollars). Sometimes this will give benefits, other times, it only gives gratitude, and encourages the creation of more custom content. The description of the benefits offered is always shown when considering a subscription to a content creator.

Benefits typically offered include: Discord access, server roles, polls, a link to send a private message via form to the content creator, early content access (typically 1 to 3 months before non-subscribers), exclusive hidden Youtube channel links, and sometimes bulk set downloads.
