Unlike in ''The Sims: Unleashed'', pets can have jobs for their first time. Similar to finding a job for Sims, a {{confirm|teen or older}} Sim can apply their pet a job through a [[newspaper]] or [[computer]]. Pets will need to learn required commands in order to advance through the career. When promoted, they may unlock various earn pet collars and coats. Just like Sims, pets will autonomously go to work when they're in a good mood; Otherwise, they will need to be ordered by a Sim household member. Players can also have the pet lay off or retire from work by directing a Sim to use the phone for that.
