Line 34: Pets have three [[life stages (pet)\|life stages]], kitten or puppy, Adult and Elder. Kittens and puppies cannot have jobs or learn commands but they can learn behaviors. They also must be carried up and down stairs. Like Sims, pets have eight [[motive (pet)\|~~motive~~motives]]s that contribute to their overall mood. The Environment motive is replaced with Scratch ([[cat]]s) and Chew ([[dog]]s). Pets can be [[Adoption#Adopting pets\|adopted]] by befriending a stray or by using the phone.
