In The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, Plan Outfit is an interaction that requires a dresser to change a Sim's clothes for an outfit type. In The Sims 3, it can also be used for cloning[1] precreated neighborhood and in-game created Sims to the Sim bin in Create a Sim or The Exchange.

This option does not exist in The Sims. Wardrobes in The Sims have a "Change clothes" option which allows a player to change a Sim's Everyday skin, so long as the Sim is wearing Everyday clothes. (At times, it may be necessary to have the Sim "Change to Normal" before the option will appear, even if he or she appears to be wearing Everyday clothes.) The player will be able to choose from all Everyday clothes, both Maxis-made and custom, which are made for the Sim's age, gender, body type, and skin tone.

In The Sims 2 using the "Plan Outfit" interaction allows the player to change the Sim's outfit to clothing that has been bought or an outfit that was provided automatically for another Sim in the household. Using boolprop testingcheatsenabled, a player can select the "Plan Outfit" option in the Sim's pie menu and add any clothes in the game to their cart, and then wear them.

In The Sims 3, the player will enter Create a Sim and is able to edit the clothing for the Sim for each type and create up to 3 different outfits for each type. They can enter Create a Style as well.
