Satellites in The Sims 2 are only seen after a Sim is killed by. They can be described as a smoking, trashy mass of debris, but one can tell what they are exactly with the Buy Mode description or a photo looking at the particular Sim's death. Satellites also sell for a massive amount of Simoleons, around §2,500, but the price drops rapidly, so it is best to go into buy mode as soon as possible to get the best price for the satellite.
