In ''The Sims 3'', depending on how happy the mother was during her pregnancy, the player might be able to choose both traits for the baby, just one, or none at all. If you are not happy with an automatic trait that is given, wait until the baby is a toddler, press ctrl, shift, c and then type in 'testingCheatsanabled true' and press enter. Then while pressing shift, click on the toddler. Click on 'change traits for the sim'. You can also  'edit sim in create a sim' to change the child's name, age, gender, skin tone, clothes, hair, facial features and all the other things you can do in CAS. This action can also work with sims of any age, as long as they are not in their carer outfits.
