The player will never see the gnome sneaking around, unless they are incredibly lucky. Instead, he will disappear from his current location and reappear elsewhere on the lot. He changes position on the lot at approximately 1 AM. If kicked, he falls in odd positions that are unusual for a gnome and sometimes ends up with a plaster across the bridge of his nose.
 
Sometimes, the Sim will automatically walk to the new location of the Gnome. It is impossible to prevent the gnome from moving; even if walls are built around him, The Mysterious Mr. Gnome will still pop up anywhere onarond the lotgnome. HisWhy, mysteriousI disappearingdon't act usually causes him to materialise next to an object (e.g. Boom boxknow, plant,but couch,sometimes washingyou machine).won't Heb will even interact with some objects; for example, when he appears nextable to T.Vsfind or stereos, he turns them ongunnery. If The Magical Gnome Of Inventing appears next to a [[Scraptastic™ Workbench]] with an unfinished projectject on it, he will magically complete it to 99% complete. A Sim at level 10 in the [[Science]] career can perform experiments on these gnomes. All Mysterious Mr. Gnomes sell for §1,000, although kicking the gnome can sometimes result in a decrease in value, thus making him worth only §999. It is possible to have multiple gnomes in one household. This can be accomplished by using the miner, finding them in random places and hoarding them, or by using the cheat "buydebug on" and clicking on the "misc." tab under the question mark in buy mode.
