Line 11:

A playable sim can invite a non-playable sim to join the household as their member. Both, the playable sim and npc sim or stray animal, must have a certain relationship score for such interaction to be available. In ''The Sims 2'', the playable Sim can "'''Propose..'''" a towny or non-playable character Sim to "'''Move in'''", or just "'''Adopt'''" If instead it happens to be a stray dog or a stray cat. In ''The Sims 3'', the interaction is presented as '''''''Ask to move in"'''''.

Townie sims also join household after marrying a playable Sim. The now ex-Townie could, at the player's option, change their last name to the name of the Sim who asked them to move in OR could keep their last name (this requires the University EP).{{confirm}}

Sims that become of a member of the household, may or may not bring a certain sum of funds with them. Players should note that Townies who become playable after moving into, or marrying into, a household will have their memories replaced with a standard CAS history. If the ''University'' expansion is installed, this will include a memory of going to college, even if they did not.
