Sims (except [[Vampire]] Sims) will always reject every call between 12am to 6am. If a Sim calls them after midnight, there is a good chance the talk will go sour, with a response of "Call back in the morning. I'm trying to sleep jerk." Try calling them after 7am and maybe then they'll come over for a coffee and gossip.
