Sims can attempt to examine a spell book that isn't their own. When they do so, the spell book will attack the Sim that touches it.
With the spell book, witches can learn three different ways of learning [[Spells (The Sims 2: Apartment Life)|spells]], "Study the Ways of the Light", "Study the Neutral Magics", and "Study the Path of Darkness". Witches can also check their abilities on their spell book in which a window will pop up showcasing all known spells of good, neutral, and evil alignment as well as the level their skill in magic is. The same window also has a tab that lists the current [[magic reagent|craftables]] the witch can make based on their magic skill level.
