Peggy's octogenarian years and forward consisted of her moving between each of her children and grandchildren's homes and helping out. She had a passion for cleaning and cooking and passed down her recipes to her daughters, granddaughters, great-granddaughters, and even her great-great-granddaughter in the form of a colorful picture book. Peggy's elderhood was met with great trauma, as she outlived all of her children with the exception of Trevor Jr. Despite this great tragedy, Peggy reconciled with her mother Hattie and invited her to live with her up until her death at the ripe old age of 109. Peggy eventually settled in with her grandson Taylor and his family until her death at the age of 99. She was cremated and given a lavish funeral, surrounded by family and friends, and her grave is located in the backyard of Drinkard Plantation, where she grew up. She is buried next to her parents, sister, and maternal grandmother Frieda Crowley.
