If a Sim has a low gardening skill, there is an option to shape the bonsai tree into a randomly generated design. After a Sim has gained more levels in gardening, they have the "Prune Shape..." option, that allows the player to choose from five different designs. After a Sim has trimmed the bonsai tree, they have the option the examine it, which will give them a [[happy]] moodlet. Sims who have achieved level 8 in the gardening skill can re-grow the foliage for §50.
A bonsai tree can be found in [[Scientist Neighborhood|FutureSim Labs]], that sometimes needs to be trimmed in order to complete a work task.
