In ''The Sims'', it is mentioned that Jeff, Diane, and their family is new to the [[Neighborhood 1|neighborhood]]. They do not appear in [[Sunset Valley]] or [[Riverview]], even though Jeff and Diane would have been teens, or maybe even children, at that time. This is probably because they are new to the neighbourhood at the start of ''The Sims''. Seeing as the events of ''The Sims 3'' takes place before the events of ''The Sims'', this is possibly the most likely assumption.
The family reappears in [[Sunlit Tides]], a neighborhood which can be downloaded from The Sims 3 Store. In this prequel to the Pleasantview chronology, Daniel and Mary-Sue are young adult newlyweds who are on their honeymoon on a tropical island.
