In ''The Sims 2'', particularly with ''Open for Business'' expansion pack, shelves are used with the main purpose of selling items in a [[Business|business]]-runned lot. Depending of the type of shelf, if the object is small enough, it can hold up to six units of that item. Clicking on a display case or display shelving allows the player to "Set Display Item price" on all items that are sitting on the display. Additionally, clicking on the display to "Restock" will have the Sim restock all the items on the display at once.
