Hi. I have a premade couple, who are supposed to adopt a baby taken away from another family. However, the first time I did that, the baby appeared only as the adopted child of the husband (who was the caller), and not the wife also. When I switched the wife calling, the reverse happened. The thing is, this baby is an Alien, resulted from the abduction of a male sim. Once the baby is adopted, his Alien father appears as well. Is that what's causing it? While it is true that the social worker will not come once children have been taken away from the parents, the social worker may come eventually and allow the parents to adopt again. I think it is a way for the game to say, "Hey, you showed your responsibility, so the privilege of adoption is yours." I am not sure if the game requires time or a certain number of days passing to occur, or whether this rule depends on the parents' having and raising another child. I just want to put this up here, because I think it's worthy to be put into consideration.
