The question is, to the baby, does he lose his family ties, according to his family tree? I know that he will lose all memories prior to being taken, but to him, does he still remember his biogical parents? In TS2, yeah, he would forget his biological parents and will only know his adoptive family\household. And he would have family ties to the adoptive parents.
In TS3, i guess they still know about their biological parents until they decide to not call them up anymore, cuz when you make a family of an elder and two kids, and make the elder die of old age, the two kids will be taken away and will live with townie families, & if you play a premade family and cheat them into said household, it will show acquaintances that are the adoptive parents of said kids.
Also if in TS4 i could make towns, it would be a quirky-ish town with a lot of Occult Sims, time travel backgrounds for some families, and kinda quirky type household. So of course not all kids will live with their parents. Like one kid is a kid genius so he live with the adult professor, the adult professor's young adult secretary, and a quite numbnuts\weird teen or YA that was sent to the town to be said kid genius' pupil. Another kid was a spaceship captain that got deaged. Yet another kid was sent to a nerdy guy's home in a box, and the guy took her in so she could become his future wife.
