For some reason in early 2013 when I had one of my Sims adopt a child, for some strange reason, the child did not recognise their parent as family or vice-versa. They also did not have any connection when looking at their family trees. The child did adopt the last name of the intended parent, but that was it. :Belladonna Cove is a very glitchy neighborhood. Sometimes when a Sim is resurrected, they don't recognize them as family.
