::: I think it's just one of the annoying coding quirks of TS2. (And by quirks I mean miscoding that Maxis neglected to fix.) It doesn't happen when the maid is off the lot. The maids probably think it is litter or something. I just waited until the maids were off the lot before my sims ate leftovers or snacks. They don't throw away juice drinks though, unless they are left on counters/tables/floor as far as I've seen.
