Normally recessive genetics for red/blonde hair have almost no chance at being inherited over dominant genetics for black/brown hair. If a Sim had dominant genetics for brown hair and recessive for black or dominant genetics for red hair and recessive for blonde hair, there is a higher chance that the descendants may inherit the recessive genetics. Yes, but if certain expansion packs are installed (maybe any one of these expansion packs) the game will recognize the genetics of those whose genetics were previously unrecognized. From what I've seen, all Sims' hair genetics are recognized when viewing their original templates with few exceptions.
