The kid you get from travelling in the past isn't your ancestor. It says you had a discussion with a group of people talking about children and you say that having children is one of the most important things a sim can do, or something similar to that. Then it says that one person was very influenced by what you said and that it may have been one of your ancestors. It doesn't say that you take ther kid and come home with them. It's reasonable to assume that the person had more kids, and passed on to their kids that it is important to reproduce, that eventually makes it to your sim and you have a child.
