:There are a vast number of Sims that have one or more unknown parents. Leaving off the name of a parent implies that the parentage is unknown, so it's not necessary to add it in. And he only has one parent in his family tree, his mother is only mentioned in story-telling, but in-game he only has one parent, so we have to keep it like the original.
