Tank Grunt is the eldest son of General Buzz Grunt and Lyla Grunt. He is the older brother of Ripp and Buck Grunt, and is distant from both of them. Tank is the General's only son who wants to follow his father into Military career. Tank is the only teen in Strangetown that doesn't have any friends. Tank's name is an obvious reference to his military background and heritage.

Life leading up to The Sims 2 (PSP)
Tank, his father, General Buzz, and brother, Ripp, all live together with the Smith family. Oddly, Buck doesn't appear in this game. Tank has let someone hack onto his computer and you have to repair it. During this time, he will be constantly beating on Ripp until his computer is fixed. You can sell secrets to Tank, but the one he wants to know is why Pollination Tech#9 Smith is outside around midnight, snooping by the alien crash site. You do not have to tell him, but if you choose not to, he will become very angry with you.
Tanks' secrets from The Sims 2 (PSP):
- (Personal): Tank wanted to go into ballet, but his father forced him into the military.
- (Intimate): Tank secretly blames Ripp for stealing his first love... an action figure named Missy McBoom.
- (Dark): Tank once got punished by Buzz for being "too creative" with his face paint.
Life leading up to The Sims 2 (Game Boy Advanced)
Tank appears as an NPC who helps the player, and appears in episodes. He is also an adult in Game Boy Advance, while he is a teen in the PC/Mac and PSP versions of The Sims 2.
Life leading up to The Sims 2 (Nintendo DS)
Tank appears in The Sims 2 (Nintendo DS) as a hotel guest. He is an adult and it is suspected his strange scarring is from a funny bone accident back in his military days.
