A tattoo chair is an object that is used for Sims to ink their body with tattoo. These objects are featured in The Sims 3: Ambitions. Sims can give tattoo to themselves or other Sims. When a tattoo chair is placed on a salon community lot, a tattoo artist will be spawned. Sims can practice giving tattoo at home with this chair and increase their Tattooing hidden skill.
Although Sims can get tattoo in a spa, only tattoo chairs enable them to practice the Tattooing hidden skill.

The Ink-in-Comfort 3000 is a manual tattooing device in The Sims 3: Ambitions. It is found in a town's salon or can purchase in Buy mode via Hobbies & Skills section or in Hobbies & Skills area under Entertainment.
It is also very similar to The Digital Tattoo Applicator, though it always requires help from another Sim to perform tattooing. The tattooing costs §75.

The Digital Tattoo Applicator is an automated tattooing device in The Sims 3: Ambitions. It can be found in Hobbies & Skills section or in Hobbies & Skills area under Entertainment.
At this point it is not known how it differs from The Ink-in-Comfort 3000 aside from how the player can have Sims tattoo themselves instead of having another Sim do it. The Digital Tattoo Applicator resembles a large, segmented full-body shield. There is a monitor depicting a Sim's body in green at one end of the object. Tattooing with assistance of another Sim costs §75 while tattooing for themselves costs §50.
