About

This template is a Main page template that uses a #switch function to display planned community events.

Use

This template is specifically intended for use on the Main Page. It can be used elsewhere, but is not intended to be. Community Events (which are typically announced in blog postings) must be added to this template in order for them to appear on the main page.

The template by default transcludes from Template:Events/None. However, if the current server date matches a date on this template's list of dates, the default message is switched out, and the event listed is displayed instead.

There are a number of secondary templates that can be used on this template - these are standard messages that are often repeated, such as messages marking IRC days or user birthdays. A full list of Event templates can be found at Category:Events templates.

Syntax

All dates are (for convenience) sorted in chronological order. To add an event, copy over the following, substituting relevant information:

| <MONTH>-<DATE>=<IMAGE (optional)> <TEXT OF EVENT>.</div></div>

The MONTH and DATE parameters must be numerical; the months of January through September have leading zeroes (i.e. January = 01, February = 02, etc), whereas the first through tenth days in each month do not use leading zeroes (i.e. the first day of the month = 1, second day = 2, etc). Standard Event template messages should be used in place of the TEXT OF EVENT, and include images.

Although not necessary for the template to function, please sort date entries chronologically. Do not place any entries after the final entry - doing so will cause the default message to no longer display.
