The Sims 4 for consoles was released on November 17, 2017. Unlike previous console releases in the series, The Sims 4 for consoles is a conversion of the original PC version rather than a separate game developed specifically for consoles, thereby sharing much of the same gameplay and feature set as the original release; certain features such as community sharing are absent, however. In addition, many of the cheats for the PC release will also work on console, and can be invoked by holding all four shoulder buttons on the joypad.<ref>[https://www.ign.com/wikis/the-sims-4/Console_Version_Differences Console Version Differences - IGN]</ref> Access to theThe [[The Sims 4 Gallery|Gallery]] was added to both the PS4 and Xbox versions on January 16, 2020. PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are not required to access the Gallery; only an EA account is required. Console players are freely able to share content with PC and Mac players, and vice versa.<ref>https://simscommunity.info/2020/01/16/the-gallery-is-now-available-for-the-sims-4-on-xbox-one-and-ps4/</ref>

Those who pre-ordered the Deluxe Party Edition of the game were able to play the game three days early, on November 14, 2017.<ref>[https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/store/p/the-sims-4-deluxe-party-edition/bpwwzdc548wz?rtc=1 The Sims™ 4 Deluxe Party Edition - Microsoft Store]</ref><ref>[https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-gb/games/the-sims-4-deluxe-party-edition/cid=EP0006-CUSA09216_00-TS4DELUXEPARTY00 The Sims 4 Deluxe Party Edition - Official PlayStation Store UK]</ref><ref name="TS4 console @ EA">[https://www.ea.com/en-gb/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/console The Sims 4 Console - EA.com]</ref>
