Goals

  • Have a Sim-styled Oasis skin when it launches.
  • Make the site prettier.

Tasks

  • Keep an eye on beta development of the new Wikia skin: Oasis.
  • Adapt our current Monaco skin to something similar in Oasis once the transition period begins.

Progress

Note that this section is for determining the progress of the development of the new skin on a global level, not just for The Sims Wiki.

You can divide it into 3 phases. Note that these phases aren't official, they have merely been created on this wiki to explain the process better.

First the beta-testing, which is fully underway. This is where people who have applied to be a beta tester are approved and then get's to play around with the new skin on a server separate from the rest of the Wikia wikis. There's a separate forum only for beta tester on Wikia's pages as well. Note that beta testers have signed a formal Non-disclosure agreement, which means they're not allowed to talk about the skin for people outside the beta. Once the bugs have been fixed and all the new features have been fully implemented, it will move to the next phase. It is unknown how long this phase will last.

Implementation is the next phase. The skin will be made available for individual users to choose, though the old skin will still be the default on wikis. This is the time where members of this project should use the new skin often in order to determine the future layout and manual of style for The Sims Wiki. Normal visitors to the wiki shouldn't note any difference and it's important that things aren't changed to the new skin quite yet. It is a possibility that several test pages will be made though. Once Wikia feels there will be no further problems with the skin, it will move to phase 3.

Phase 3 is the full implementation of the new skin, making it default on all wikis and deleting the Monaco skin. The whole purpose of this project is to make sure The Sims Wiki is ready with a new layout on all pages once that day comes.

  • Phase 1 - Beta testing
  • Phase 2 - Gradual implementation ← Current phase
  • Phase 3 - Full implementation
