IRC Policy

The Sims Wiki has a dedicated IRC (Internet Relay Chat) Channel that is open to all editors on the Wiki and allows live communication between multiple editors in real-time. The following rules govern use of the IRC Channel:

  • There is no official topic of the channel; it may be used to discuss the Wiki, discuss The Sims, or simply to build community. However, discussions on the channel must remain appropriate for a general audience.
  • Harassing or attacking other channel users is not allowed.
  • Users of the channel should not attempt to obtain personal information from other users, either directly or through subversion.
  • No diving
  • No running
  • No fishing of the bridge
  • Actions by users on the IRC Channel can result in disciplinary action on the Wiki, including warnings, blocks and bans.

Booting

Certain users are given special administrative powers over the IRC channel, namely the ability to boot users from the channel for participating in unruly or unacceptable behavior. This power is accompanied by a moderator responsiblity, and is only awarded to users who have shown their maturity and who are regularly active on the channel.
