About Requests

Users who have shown experience in Wiki editing and who have become productive members of The Sims Wiki community can apply for special user rights. There are three tiers of special rights, each with their own corresponding requirements and process for receiving them.

Rollback is the first special rights position awarded to users. Users who apply for rollback should already be experienced in editing, and should have no history of recent warnings or blocks from an administrator. Rollbackers have the ability to revert multiple vandalism edits in a single click, making the rollback tool a very powerful tool, and one that must be fully understood before it is used. Applications for rollback powers can be made on the Requests for rollback page.

Administrator or sysop is the next special rights position available. In order to apply for administrator rights, a user must already have rollback rights, and must have demonstrated community involvement, excellent behavior, and an understanding of advanced wiki editing, including the use of rollback powers. An administrator position is not automatically granted to anyone under any circumstances; all who wish to receive administrator privileges must apply and must meet the previously-stated criteria. There is no "magic number" of edits needed before a rollback user can apply for administrator; as always, quality is more important than quantity. Rollbackers who wish to apply for administrator powers can visit the Requests for administratorship page.

Bureaucrat is the final tier of special user rights, although the bureaucrat position only grants one real power - the ability to promote and demote rollbackers and administrators, and the ability to promote other users to Bureaucrat status. Bureaucrat selection is handled differently from other positions; community consensus on the selection of a bureaucrat is a must before a new bureaucrat will be accepted, and bureaucrats are nominated by other users. Only active users who have made a minimum number of edits can nominate or support the nomination of a bureaucrat candidate. Only active administrators may be nominated for a bureaucrat position, and receiving a bureaucrat position is not automatic. Only the most qualified administrators are eligible, and administrators who do apply must demonstrate wiki knowledge far surpassing that held by normal users, as well as have had little to no conflict with the wiki community. Administrators can be nominated for bureaucrat status at the Requests for bureaucratship page.
