Build Mode trailer release

Maxis has published their build mode trailer for The Sims 4 (embedded video below). Perhaps as expected, the trailer didn't give us much new information about Build Mode. Even so, the new build mode tools seem to be the most advanced and powerful tools yet, and there are a lot of new features coming, including:

  • The ability to move rooms and entire buildings with only a couple clicks
  • Pre-designed rooms that make building a house a quick and easy process
  • Adjustable wall heights
  • An advanced roof tool, which allows you to click-and-drag to adjust roof angle and curvature
  • Tools to auto-place windows on a house, and tools to adjust the height of windows

Again, these are all things we've already seen or that have already been confirmed prior to the trailer, but the trailer is the first time we've been able to see them all in action. You can read more about the new trailer here, or watch the trailer below:

Be welcoming!

The Sims Wiki has a bot that automatically adds a welcome message to the talk pages of new users on the wiki. Unfortunately, that bot is currently not working, so new users aren't being welcomed as they should be. Welcoming new users is an important step in bringing them into the community. So, if we don't have a bot to do it, we should do it ourselves!

With that in mind, I would like to encourage our registered users to watch for new users and post {{subst:Welcome|username of the user being welcomed|the name of the first page they edited}} on their user talk page. If you notice any edits by unregistered users, feel free to add {{subst:WelcomeIP}} to their talk pages.

Community discussions

As usual, we have several community discussions that are awaiting input from the community. If you have something that should be discussed with the community at large, be sure to go to the Community Discussions Forum and start a new thread!

Poll[edit source]

The release of the Build Mode Trailer has added fuel to the fires of a particular rumor - that pools will not be appearing in The Sims 4. At this point, the existence or non-existence of pools in the base game hasn't been confirmed, but the producers seem to be avoiding showing off the pool feature (perhaps intentionally, perhaps not). Pools have been in the game since the very first game in the series, so not including them in The Sims 4 would be shocking. But, would it affect your decision to buy the game?

If The Sims 4 is released without pools, will you buy the game?
