Style note

In general, our "house style" is to italicize the names of games. So, when you see something like ''The Sims 3'', and think it needs to be linked, change it to ''[[The Sims 3]]'' rather than [[The Sims 3]]. Dharden (talk) 14:56, December 26, 2012 (UTC)

RE: Restoring Neighborhoods

It seems that you've done it right, except for the storytelling picture. First, go to your saved game folder in My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods\N001 (Pleasantview for example). You'll notice it's missing the Storytelling folder. Make one and leave it there. Now, go back to your installed game directory in UserData folder (the folder where you got the original neighborhoods). There's a Storytelling folder there.

Inside the Storytelling folder, find the screenshots you want. Remember, there's snapshot, and there's thumbnail. I'm sure you know which photo album belongs to which family. Notice that the snapshot (or thumbnail) has a file name like snapshot_xxxxxxxx_yyyyyyyy The x's are the family instance. So for example you want the Broke snapshots, the x's are 2dae7a30. Now find the XML file in that folder as well named webentry_2dae7a30.

Copy the snapshots, the thumbnails, and the XML file to the Storytelling folder in your saved game again. Do that to all the families in the same neighborhood, and there you have the photo albums again. :) Nikel Talk Vote! 07:18, August 7, 2013 (UTC)

The Baxter family snapshot is also in the Storytelling folder inside your The Sims 2 folder in My Documents. It's always there.
Can I suggest you something? Next time if you want to restart a neighborhood, try using Tarlia's Clean Neighborhood. It's better without excessive townies. Also she's fixed some broken Sim DNAs. Strangetown has the most occurrences. Nikel Talk Vote! 17:00, August 7, 2013 (UTC)

RE: The Sims 3 Network Error

I quit patching through the launcher and downloaded the patch manually instead. It was rather buggy and every once in a while it said my game was up to date even though there were new store patches. Which version do you exactly have right now? 1.55 or 1.57? Just a note that I don't log in while playing anymore. And I haven't patched my game to 1.57, so I can't test it for you. Nikel Talk Vote! 15:43, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

Well, so I guess the launcher is a bit glitchy. Go here The Sims 3/Patch 57 and download it from there. There's a direct link on the article for you to download. It's rather large though, so it takes a while for you to download.
Are you playing while getting connected? Or are you trying to download Riverview? I'm playing without getting connected, and I can play in Lucky Palms just fine. Nikel Talk Vote! 08:44, September 11, 2013 (UTC)
I'm positively sure the link is correct. It's odd if playing Riverview requires you to update the game. But you haven't answered my question. Are you logged in to EA while playing the game or not? Nikel Talk Vote! 06:52, September 14, 2013 (UTC)
The patch file could not be read? Has it finished downloading, did it stop while you were downloading it, or it simply cannot be downloaded? What file type is the patch? .Sims3Pack?
As an emergency solution, if you still haven't been able to patch your game, just don't log in on the main menu. You still can play it offline without being logged in. Nikel Talk Vote! 10:30, September 14, 2013 (UTC)
Oh yeah, it's .exe, not .sims3pack. My bad. Yes, that's how I start Lucky Palms. New game and it will appear on the list of world dropdown. There's no need to log in. You didn't forget to install the world, did you? Nikel Talk Vote! 03:59, September 15, 2013 (UTC)
When you said it didn't work, did you mean Riverview wasn't on the list of worlds? What page did you mean, thesims3.com page or launcher? Run your launcher and look at your "Installed Content" and under the "Lots" tab. Is Riverview there? Nikel Talk Vote! 13:41, September 15, 2013 (UTC)
If it's not under Installed Contents, then I assume it hasn't been installed yet. You just need to install the Riverview. Have you downloaded it or not? Check your launcher under "Downloads" and "Lots" tab. If Riverview file isn't there, then try downloading it again. Or check the folder where your files are usually stored when you download stuff. Just remember that even if the file is under "Downloads", it doesn't mean it has been installed. "Downloads" means the content has been in your computer, but hasn't been installed yet. Nikel Talk Vote! 04:51, September 16, 2013 (UTC)
Well, I'm glad you can sort that out. :) Good luck with the patch, though! Nikel Talk Vote! 17:25, September 17, 2013 (UTC)

RE: Vandalism

Thanks for the report! It's good that you've reverted the vandalism as well. :) Nikel Talk Vote! 02:21, November 3, 2013 (UTC)

I say we can keep an eye on the user. His only 2 edits seem to be only making false info.
For future reference, you seem to be capable of reverting edits, so a report is not really necessary. But when things get worse, like continuous vandalism, attack on other users, or edit warring, don't hesitate to alert an admin. I do appreciate your help, so keep up the good work! RE: Vandalism

Hi Joey. I did revert that edit, but I chose not to issue a warning. One of the main tenets of wiki editing is to assume that a user is trying to help the wiki even if the result of their edit is not positive. Looking at the edit and simply noticing that it was a large edit doesn't mean it was done on purpose; accidents do happen, especially with people who have never edited a wiki before. Aside from that, some people might 'test' edit, since they might be unconvinced or unaware that their changes really do take effect immediately.

So, as I said, I did not issue a warning, since the edit in my opinion was not vandalism and it was an isolated incident. Often the best solution in cases like this is to just undo the damage and leave it at that. I hope you can appreciate my reasoning and justification in taking this action.

Thanks for the input. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 06:09, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Userbox Template

This is the simplest way to set up:

Bustin' Out

Castaway Stories

Life Stories

{{userboxes}}
{{userbox bo}}
{{Userbox cs}}
{{Userbox ls}}
{{userboxesend}}

Basically, you add everything you want between the {{userboxes}} and {{userboxesend}}, and there you go. Oh and you can use the extra informations (align, colors, etc) only when you want to. --Frostwalker Talk - Read 08:13, November 17, 2013 (UTC)

Actually, there's already one which isn't on the list. Here:
Code Result
{{userbox tsd}}
The Sims: Deluxe
