Genie wishes in The Sims 3: Showtime[edit source]

How do you know that failed wishes don't exist in Showtime? Can you point to a definite source which says they don't? Have you looked at code for wishes and seen that failure isn't part of it? Wishes never failing is a big enough departure from past games that I'd feel better about the article making a flat statement that they never fail if I knew what it was based on.

Likewise, you seem to be implying that a Genie who has been released from the Lamp can still enter it and be summoned from it; in effect, that a released Genie still treats the Lamp as "home". Once again, how do you know? Dharden (talk) 13:00, April 2, 2012 (UTC)

The part about the genie being released from the lamp treating it as home was a mistake on my part. I noticed that it's contradicted by Carl's Sims 3 Guide and edited it to match that. Thank you for pointing that out.

As for failed wishes, Showtime has been out for nearly a month and no topic about genies on any forum I've seen has ever mentioned anything about failed wishes at all. I've seen discussions of genie powers, genie hybrids and how wishes work, but never anything about failures. Even modders attempting to alter what the wishes do (such as the creator of one mod that increases the chance of two more wishes from "wish for more wishes" and raises the amount of money gained from "wish for fortune") have never said anything suggesting the existence of failed wishes in the game's code, despite presumably being in a position to know about statistics such as the odds of a wish failing if such a thing were possible.

(This modder, incidentally, is where I got the statistic about having a 5% chance to gain more than one extra wish when wishing for more wishes. The mod was designed to raise it to 20%)

If you want, I suppose I could message the creator of that mod on modthesims and see if he can find anything in the game files to settle this. MinghamSmith 01:35, April 5, 2012 (UTC)

That would be helpful. I want us to get it right, but I don't have TS3, so all I can do is check the Usually Reliable Sources. Dharden (talk) 02:01, April 5, 2012 (UTC)
