The Vanderburg family reside in Hidden Springs, a world that can be downloaded from The Sims 3 Store. It consists of Catarina Vanderburg, her two children, Sebastian and Francisca, and her husband Renauld Vanderburg. The family is said to be the royalty in the town. The daughter, Francisca, ran off to pursue her dream since her mother wouldn't let her by pressuring her to marry, and she now lives alone in the woods and holds a journalist job. The rest of the family lives in a huge mansion in the middle of the town. Sebastian is said not to want to fit in just one relationship, but he is the final hope for his mother Catarina, who wants to see him married for the family's best interests.

The family reappears in Lunar Lakes, where the only household member is Sofia Vanderburg. Sofia appears to be the descendant of the Vanderburg family, considering the life in Lunar Lakes takes place in the future. She has deep connection with Francisca due to the ideals that Sofia has and the ones that led Francisca to run off from her family, because these ideals are the same. It is implied Francisca and Sofia are directly connected to each other.
