Ballet barres are objects added in The Sims 2: FreeTime. They build body skill, the hidden dancing skill, and enthusiasm for the Music and Dance hobby.

There are two ballet barres in FreeTime. One, the Basic Barre by Deuxjoint Ltd, is available in Buy mode, and costs §500. The other, the Better Barre by Deuxjoint Ltd, is the career reward for the Dance career.

Note

While the Basic Barre is often shown against a mirror-covered wall, it cannot be placed in that manner unless the moveobjects cheat is used.

Ballet barres have two available interactions: "Warm Up" and "Ballet Exercises". "Warm Up" is always available, but "Ballet Exercises" must be unlocked. On the Basic Barre, the interaction will be unlocked for Sims who reach level 10 enthusiasm in Music and Dance. On the Better Barre, it will be unlocked for Sims who reach level 8 in the dancing skill. If both a Basic Barre and Better Barre are present on a lot, any Sim who can perform "Ballet Exercises" on the Better Barre will also be able to perform them on the Basic Barre.

Sims using a ballet barre will automatically change into their gym clothes, and will automatically change into their everyday clothes after they stop.
