A band venue is a lot that can give gig offers to bands in The Sims 3: Late Night. They are designated with the lot assignment Dive Bar, Local Watering Hole, Sports Bar, Fusion Lounge, Vampire Lounge or Exclusive Lounge. The Band Venue Requires:

  • A Stage (Platform)
  • Instruments (Bass, Guitar, Piano, Drum)

Without these "requirements", the lot won't function as a band venue.
